The Accommodation

Formerly a worker’s cottage, bread oven and pigsties, La Charnière is now a beautifully restored one-bedroom cottage offering a secluded retreat for couples or individuals in the heart of the Haute Vienne countryside. The property holds a classification as a four-star Meublé de Tourisme (2021) verifying the high quality of the provisions and service to our guests. 

During your stay at La Charnière, we want you to have an enjoyable and relaxing stay, as such we endeavour to make your time here as stress-free and easy as possible. There are no shared spaces (other than the pool) allowing you to relax and unwind undisturbed whatever you choose to do, making it easy to feel right at home. La Charnière offers guests a luxury retreat with plenty of extras included in our standard rate to make your stay relaxing, indulgent and enjoyable from the moment you arrive.

The Property

La Charnière Chadalais is a completely private property and is exclusive to you during your stay. Whilst it is on the same plot as the owner’s property, it is separated by the driveway, cannot be overlooked, and we do not disturb our guests during their stay. There is a private entrance and a dedicated secure off-road parking space for guests.

La Charnière is tastefully and neutrally decorated and furnished giving a cosy and homely feel. It is finished to a high specification in a contemporary style but retains a wealth of character features. It offers a well-thought-out, generous layout ideal for two with comfortable living areas, and everything you should need for your stay. There is electric underfloor heating making the property warm and cosy year-round.

The Bedroom

The mezzanine bedroom offers characterful features with a comfortable Super King-sized. For ultimate comfort there is a Naturalex™ anti-hypoallergenic memory foam mattress, high-quality goose-down duvet winter) or a lightweight duvet (summer), a selection of pillows and Percale™ or Supima™ cotton bedding. All bedding has fresh mattress and pillow protectors for every guest and there is plenty of storage for clothing and belongings. Our rental rate includes all linens and towels at no extra charge.

The Kitchen and Dining Area

The kitchen is well-equipped, clean and bright space, and should provide everything you need during your stay. There is a gas hob and oven, fridge freezer, microwave, kettle, toaster and Tassimo™ coffee machine. There is plenty of space to store your groceries, and all the usual crockery, pans, cooking equipment and utensils are provided, plus a stock of basic cooking essentials. There is also a comfortable four-seater oak dining table and chairs. There is also a gas BBQ in the garden for al-fresco cooking.

Bathroom

Formally the bread oven of the property, there is a bright, spacious and clean bathroom with an Italian walk-in rainfall shower, sink, toilet and full length mirror. There is plenty of storage, branded toiletries and a selection of bathroom essentials provided. High-quality bathrobes and towels are also included in the rate.

Living Spaces

There is a spacious and cosy lounge area with a comfortable 2-seater leather sofa, armchair, coffee table and soft furnishings, as well as a dedicated well-lit dining area that also doubles as a workspace with electrical and USB outlets close by. The living space is also extended outside by a large paved terrace with another table and chairs and sun loungers, and a small courtyard to the front of the property ideal for an evening aperitif.

Entertainment

There is a dedicated high speed wi-fi network for the property. There is an HD TV with both English (Freesat) and French (TNT and Orange VOD) channels available. There is also Netflix available for guests to use, as well as a Roberts Digital DAB/ FM Radio and Bluetooth speaker. There is also a suitable workspace with USB chargers.

Private Garden and Hot Tub

There is a 100m2 fully enclosed, private garden for the property with a large paved terrace and lawned area, with a large shade sail to provide a cooler area in the hot summer months. There is a 3-seater 19-jet hydromassage jacuzzi exclusively for your use, and available year-round. Full instructions are provided, and it is fully maintained during your stay. It is the perfect place to sink a few G&T’s in the afternoon sun, or to stargaze in the evenings.

Pool Area

Our 4m x 8m heated outdoor pool is available over the summer months, and is accessed directly from the garden. There is also a 90m2 pool terrace with sunbeds and parasols, plus a large pool house with a shaded seating area. Whilst the pool is not exclusive use for guests of La Charnière, on the rare occasions it is being shared, this is only with the owners of the property. The pool is fully maintained during your stay.

Arrival

We offer flexible check-in and check-out times, plus the opportunity for luggage drop-off if necessary. All costs are included- taxe de séjour, linens, electricity and gas, with the only exception being a small cleaning fee. Guests are greeted upon arrival, where possible, to give you a brief tour and important information about the property… and after that, we leave you to enjoy the rest of your stay. We provide a detailed welcome pack- giving information on the property and local area, and a welcome pack with local produce and basic essentials.

Services

We also offer a full concierge service for guests. From pre-stay shopping to restaurant reservations, providing champagne and flowers upon arrival or recommendations for days out, please let us know before or during your stay of any requirements we can assist with to make your stay perfect. We also offer select packages such as option of a Cheese/ Charcuterie platter upon arrival, Breakfast Hampers for all or part of your stay, or even special celebration packages. We regret that we are unable to accept pets or children. However, we are able to accommodate one infant up to the age of 2 years. A highchair, cot, bedding and towels can be provided at no extra cost.

Our varied location is an ideal setting for holidays whether for adventure or relaxation, cultural and gastronomic holidays, or even just a romantic break for two.
